בשביל לכתוב קוד שמזהה חוטים בכבל לפי זה שאתה שולח לו קוד ידוע בכניסה ומפענח את הקוד ביציאה ולפיו אתה יכול לקבוע את כמות החוטים בכבל אני מניח שתצטרך להגדיר בתוכנית המחשב הרבה פרמטרים עבור כל סוג כבל את הפרמטרים האלה אתה יכול למצוא בדפי הנתונים של הכבלים השונים את הנתונים תצטרך לכתוב בעזרת איזשהו מבנה נתונים למשל בעזרת טבלה, חלק מהנתונים שיכולים להופיע הם אורך הכבל, הקיבולת של הכבל מספר ה SWG או ה AWG, ההשראות של חוט אחד בכבל או של כל הכבל ועוד...
אחרי שתדע את כל הנתונים שיש לכבל תצטרך למצוא איזשהו חיישן (או כמה חיישנים) שימדדו את הנתונים של הכבל, למשל שיטה לא מדויקת תהיה למדוד את ההשראות של הכבל, וישוו את התוצאות לטבלת הנתונים ולפי זה תוכל לקבוע כמה חוטים יש בכבל.
